Greater Harrison County PSD was formed in April of 1999. The water districts, Valley of Good Hope, Lost Creek / Mt. Clare and Quiet Dell were consolidated to form the water side of Greater Harrison. The wastewater side was a consolidation of Grant Union and Mt. Clare Rd. PSD’s.


Since the consolidation, Greater Harrison has had several projects to improve the counties infrastructure.

 

In 2003 Normandy Estates Water Line Extension  was finished and 7 people received much needed water. The project consisted of 8,720 ft. of 6" water line, four 6" valves, 7 meter settings, 100 ft. of 3/4" service line, 2 air releases and one 2" blowoff. Since then another 9 customers have tied onto the line making a total of 18. The total cost of this project was $170,000.


In the fall of 2003 Greater Harrison Wastewater took over the maintenance of Lakeland Terrace and Augusta Park Collection Systems.


In the fall of 2003 Greater Harrison Wastewater took over the Collection System and Package Plant at Auburn Village.

 

In 2004 a Wastewater line extension was finished in southern Harrison County to give service to about 330 people. The project consisted of 63,409 ft. of gravity line, 27,663 ft. of force main, 276 manholes, 64 clean-outs, 11 air releases, 16 grinder stations, 17 grinder pumps, 2 lift station upgrades and extensive upgrades to the Sewage Treatment Plant in West Milford. The total cost of this project was about $8,000,000.


In 2005 the Johnstown Water Line Extension was finished making service available to about 40 people. The project consisted of a new 50,000 gallon water tank, a new water booster station, 171,640 ft. of 6" water line, 4,275 ft. of 2" water line, 6 valves, 7 fire hydrants, 5 flushing hydrants and 3 air releease valves. The total cost of this project was about $500,000.

 

In 2006 the Brushy Fork Water Line Extension was finished giving water service to about 175 people. The project consisted of a new 107,000 gallon water tank, a new water booster station, 25, 600 ft. of 8" water line, 43,845 ft. of 6" water line, 2,600 ft. of 4" water line, 1,870 ft. of 2" water line, 18 fire hydrants, seventeen 6" valves, two 4" valves, four 2" valves, 12 air releases, 13 flushing hydrants, 3,600 ft. of 3/4" water line, and radio telemetry. The total cost of this project was about $2,300,000.

Eight water tanks with a storage capacity of 861,000 Gallons

One Hundred Ten Fire Hydrants

One Hundred Twenty Five Miles of water line

Six Main Water Booster Stations

Six Secondary Water Booster Stations

About One Hundred Twenty Six Valves

About Three Thousand Two Hundred Ninety Seven Service Taps

 

Current Wastewater Infrastructure as of the end of 2007 was:

Class II Wastewater Treatment Facility in West Milford

Nine other Wastewater Treatment Facilities throughout the county

Thirty Five Duplex Lift/Grinder Stations

About One Hundred E-One Grinder Pumps

About Sixty Five Miles of wastewater line

Total Treatment Capacity .75 MGD
